Over twenty of Davenport’s Veterans from the Civil War and Spanish-American War have lain in unmarked graves for more than 100 years, a fact discovered by researchers.

Saturday May 27th at 1:00 PM at the Davenport City Cemetery on Rockingham Rd, they will be dedicating newly acquired headstones to 21 Civil War and Spanish American War Veterans.

In 1870, missing headstones were noted by visitors to the City Cemetery in Davenport wishing to decorate the soldiers’ graves in commemoration of Memorial Day.
