QC Rock Academy Rocks The River on Saturday

I started playing guitar when I was 15 years old. I got a guitar when I was 12...I just didn't have the ability to learn quick enough to hold my interest. We had Guitar World magazine which had tablature in the back...but I sure didn't know what any of that meant. We didn't have YouTube and we sure didn't have QC Rock Academy!

Every time I see what QCRA is up to...I get a bit jealous of these kids. They're living the life that I would have killed for back then. Going backstage at shows, Skyping with rockstars and putting on shows in front of more than your 10 closest friends in your buddys dad's garage. Even though the "Texas Jam" and the "Pippi Stock" and "Gooseapalooza" were some of my best memories.

This Saturday, QC Rock Academy is teaming up with Rock Island Parks & Recreation for an awesome night of live music with plenty of room for social distancing!

The inaugural “Rock The River - Six Feet Apart-y” will take place at the beautiful Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and catch the area’s most talents teen musicians on stage. The weather looks like it’s going to be amazing!

No coolers or outside food. The Parks and Rec will be serving burgers, brats, Happy Joe’s pizza, popcorn, drinks and snacks for sale. Bent River Brewery will also be on hand selling adult beverages.

QC Rock Academy bands include: BEEN THERE DONE THAT, STRICTLY BUSINESS, MADE YA LOOK, CRUSHED MONKEY, DAZE OFF, TELL TALE HEART, as well as solo performances from AVONA ALMOND and MAKAYLA NAVIN.
