The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle was delayed just before the race started after the pace car crashed into a wall coming off a turn.

The Corvette ZR1 was being driving by General Motors' VP of Product Development, the car is valued at $123,000. As Mark Reuss was taking a turn, the back end swung out behind him, causing the vehicle to slam into the wall and spin around on the track.

The driver and passenger avoided any major injuries. Chevrolet blames many factors for the crash, including "weather and track conditions."
