New Glasses Force You to Stop Staring at Screens
Nowadays it's pretty much impossible to go an entire day without staring at a screen. TVs, computers, smartphones, they're everywhere and studies show we spend 11 hours a day staring at screens.
It was only a matter of time before somebody invented some new technology to fight back against old technology. A new product on Kickstarter called "IRL Glasses" does just that.
They look like normal sunglasses, but instead of just blocking UV rays, they block out the light coming from TVs and computers so that the screens just look blank. The promotional video for the glasses claims that no special effects were used:
They work by taking advantage of something called "horizontal polarized optics." So far the prototypes work with most TVs and monitors, but not cell phone screens yet. You can pre-order them for $49 on Kickstarter and they'll ship in April.
