Man Set Shower Curtain On Fire So His Overstaying Guests Would Leave
A Syracuse man was charged with arson after police say he set his shower curtain on fire in his apartment to try to get visitors to leave on Friday.
At 12:21am, police say 39-year-old Daniel Hart was ready for the people inside his apartment at 304 Court Street, but they weren't apparently getting the hint.
He went into his bathroom and set the shower curtain on fire with a lighter, police say. The curtain fell to the floor where it burned until police officers arrived and stomped the fire out.
The floor and doorframe of the bathroom were burned, police said.
By setting the fire, Hart endangered the people in his apartment unit as well as the other people living in the building, police say. County records show 13 units in the building.
The 39-year-old Daniel Hart was charged with second-degree arson, a felony, and is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center jail on a $5,000 cash bail, according to jail records.
