"Iowa just has corn fields." Says the person who has never been to Iowa.  Yes, Iowa is known for corn and farming, and are proud of it.  But there is more to it than that.  And while that should be a beautiful site for all creatures that love to eat, two views in Iowa have been voted some of the best in America.

Mixbook.com found the Top 100 Most Breathtaking Views in America.  And there really aren't many surprises in the Top 10.

#1 Denali from Wonder Lake, Alaska
You might not know this one...but you might have actually looked at it a lot.  It was a preset background loaded into Windows Vista.  OK, maybe you didn't look at it a lot since it was on Windows Vista.  Here is a refresher.

The list continues with more natural beauty:

#2 Na Pali Coast from Kalalau Lookout, Hawaii
#3 Mendenhall Glacier from Nugget Falls Trail, Alaska
#4 Big Sky from Lone Mountain Summit, Montana
#5 Lake Tahoe from Sand Harbor, Nevada
#6 Bryce Canyon from Sunrise Point, Utah

You thought the Grand Canyon might be higher on the list, but here it is at number 7.

#7 Grand Canyon from Mather Point, Arizona
#8 Cape Cod from Nauset Beach, Massachusetts
#9 Niagara Falls from Prospect Point, New York

The only "non-natural" spot listed in the Top 10 is not in New York, Chicago, or San Francisco.   It's how to see the skyline and all the decadence that is Las Vegas.

#10 Las Vegas Strip from the High Roller
Mixbook.com says "The High Roller Observation Wheel on the Las Vegas Strip provides a sweeping panoramic view of the city’s iconic skyline. The ideal photo can be captured from one of the observation pods at the top, particularly at night when the city lights create a dazzling and vibrant display."

Oh but wait there's more!  Coming in at number 88 on the list is the Murray Hill Scenic Overlook.  Mixbook says "The Murray Hill Scenic Overlook in the Loess Hills offers a unique view of this distinctive landscape. The viewpoint provides a sweeping view of the rolling hills and valleys, particularly dramatic during sunrise or sunset."

Located near the Missouri River on the west side of Iowa it just shows that both sides of Iowa have breathtaking views.  With a lot of corn in the middle.

And for the ultimate day of viewing and picture taking, start at Pike's Peak for sunrise and then drive to Murray Hill for sunset.  It's a 5-hour drive so you'll have plenty of time to make some stops along the way in those heartland farm towns for more beautiful scenery.
