Three schools in the North Scott Community School District were placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after two students reported concerns that another student might have a gun, according to district officials. The lockdown impacted North Scott High School, North Scott Junior High, and Ed White Elementary.

Police Search Finds No Weapon

Law enforcement quickly responded to the report, conducting a thorough search of the schools. No firearm or other weapon was found, and the lockdowns were lifted shortly after. All students have since been released safely.

Superintendent Addresses the Situation

In a statement, North Scott Superintendent Joe Stutting said the district acted out of an abundance of caution. “We will always take every report seriously to ensure the safety of our students and staff,” Stutting said. “We appreciate the quick response from local law enforcement and the cooperation of everyone involved.”

Investigation Continues

Investigators are now reviewing online and social media activity connected to the situation to determine whether any threats were made or if misinformation played a role.

The North Scott Community School District emphasized that maintaining safety remains its top priority and encouraged students to continue reporting any potential threats or concerning behavior immediately to school officials or police.
