Moline Seeks ‘Snow Angels’ For New Winter Season
For it's 2nd year, a program in Moline is back.
Whether or not you're looking forward to snow, you have to admit: it's not that far away. That's why the City of Moline is bringing back their 'Snow Angels' program.
The program is designed to help city residents who may not be able to clean snow off of their driveways or porches.
It helps residents who are 60+ and individuals that have physical limitations by clearing boulevard sidewalks after the area has received 2 inches or more of snow.
To be a 'Snow Angel', volunteers have to be at least 16 and have their own snow shovel. You will receive a text alert to be matched with one neighbor that's within one mile of your house.
If you want to do it or if you know you'll be a resident in need of help, you can fill out Moline's 'Snow Angels' Application.
Public Works Director Denver Schmitt told KWQC:
Snow Angels really showed what Moline is made of last winter. We’re so proud of the Moline residents who made Snow Angels a success last year. We saw firsthand how important this program is for our seniors and those with physical limitations. The need is still very real, and we can’t meet it without volunteers.
After volunteers receive a text message to help after a snowfall, they have 24 hours to go clear off the snow.
Once you fill out the application, you can either mail it to:
Snow Angel Program, 3635 4th Avenue, Moline, IL 61265
or email it to: arasso@moline.il.us.
