Illinois & Iowa DOT’s Want Your Input On Centennial Bridge’s Future
Ah that bridge.
I don't know about you, but every time I've driven on Centennial Bridge, it might as well not have a speed limit. People zoom from Davenport to Rock Island or vice versa (though no bridge stresses me out like the Arsenal Bridge does, but that's a different story).
Centennial Bridge was recently named the most structurally deficient bridge in Iowa by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.

It's an elderly bridge, built in 1940, carrying over 26,000 crossings per day. As you may know, it requires a lot of expensive upkeep. Now, the Iowa and Illinois Departments of Transportation want to do something about it and they want to know what you think.
Enter the U.S. 67 Corridor Project.
The powers that be are trying to figure out a long-term solution for this bridge. And they want to know what you think or if you have any suggestions.
There will be a public meeting to talk about bridge ideas on Thursday, April 17th, at the Holiday Inn in Rock Island from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. It's going to be an open house format, no formal presentation.
According to the Iowa DOT, you will be able to talk to project representatives, ask questions, and offer ideas. The bridge itself is technically an Iowa DOT bridge, but the Illinois DOT is responsible for the upkeep and maintaining it's condition.
The 67 Corridor Project, which was introduced in January of this year, is expected to be done in Summer 2027.
