Bed bugs are back in the news again which makes everyone's skin crawl. The Paris bed bug has been a huge problem in Europe but experts say they are coming to the U.S.

Three cities in Illinois already have a terrible bed bug problem with one of those cities having the worst problem in the entire country.

Paris And Europe Have A Terrible Bed Bug Problem Right Now

If you haven't been following the bed bug problem going on across the pond in Paris, France, and most of Europe, let me catch you up to speed.

Throughout the summer and into the fall, bed bugs have become a major issue in Paris and they are spreading all over the place. Bed bugs have been found not just in homes, hotels, and other places where you may find mattresses. There are reports of bed bugs being found in Parisian schools and trains. Bed bugs have been found on passenger ships leaving France and going to other parts of the world.

Illinois Has The Worst Bed Bug Problem

Earlier this year, we got a report from Orkin showing the top 50 cities in the U.S. that have bed bugs the worst.

The pest control company found that three of those cities are in Illinois. Luckily, one of those cities is getting its bed bug problem under control while another still has the worst bed bug problem overall in the U.S.

The three Illinois cities that landed on the list of the cities with the worst bed bugs problem are:

• 48. Peoria
• 11. Champaign
• 1. Chicago

This is the third year in a row that Chicago has topped the list of the cities with the worst bed bugs problem.

Bed Bugs Are Bad In The Quad Cities

If you had a slight sign of relief thinking bed bugs weren't a problem in the Quad Cities, think again. Orkin put Davenport, Iowa on its list at number 37. If you're reading this from Cedar Rapids, you are at number 31.

That problem could get really bad if we're not careful. If you plan to visit Paris or anywhere in Europe during this bed bug crisis, those little bugs can travel back with you.
