Figge Art Museum is getting a new exhibit and highlights women who dared to be different.

Long before there was Lululemon, sneakers, Stanley mugs, and influencer-neutral workout gear, there was sporting fashion. A lot of us just wear leggings now for whatever we're doing. But over the last 160 years, women have selected their clothes based on what exact activity they would be doing.

The traveling exhibit Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800-1960 is at the Figge Art Museum from February 14th-May 7th. I took a stroll through it already and let me tell you, it's amazing.

There are 64 fully accessorized ensembles on mannequins that have over 480 actual historic objects. Not reproductions. It's what these women would have worn doing just about anything recreational: yachting, ice skating, riding, basketball, cheerleading, piloting, and so much more.

These looks are what laid the foundation for how we dress to do these same activities now.

To add to the fun, Figge has two life-sized cardboard cutouts of these mannequins that will be at certain businesses for you to take a snapshot with. You'll find them at Hotel Blackhawk Bowl and Martini Lounge, City Loafers, NorthPark Mall, SouthPark Mall, The River's Edge, Quad City Botanical Center, Putnam Museum, Watermark Corners, Davenport Public Library, and Freight House Farmers' Market.

Plus you can get a free drink ticket for certain downtown bars with a paid adult admission. That includes Endless Brews, Blackhawk Bowl, City Loafers, Zeke's Island Cafe, Raccoon Motel, Cavort QC, Sippis American Grill and Craft Beer, Me & Billy, Mississippi River Distilling Company Downtown Lounge, Armored Gardens, Devon's Complaint Department, and Analog Arcade Bar.
