The Iron Invasion has definitely found a new home at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport. Forced to move locations or fold when Illinois was still restricting gatherings during Covid, Show Director John Wells cautiously came to the Quad Cities. And if last weekend is any indication, the show is only getting more popular.

And even so, the weekend defies description. It's part retro lifestyle, part music fest, auto auction and swap meet, fashion, crafts and all of it has autobilia as the undercurrent. So many different types of folks gather and hang out during the weekend--it's a little slice of utopia here in the Quad Cities. (Well, there was the one weird Ax-wielding joker in the woods, but by percentage, that's still an A+ for the weekend!)

When all is said and done, the gathering of hot rod fans, music fans, and pinup contestants is a fun way to help out kids with congenital heart defects through Helping Hanna's Heart, a foundation started by John and his wife Kim, after they went through it with their daughter, and decided to help out other families however they could.

Our thanks to Roberta Osmers, who sent us these awesome photos--capturing the atmosphere and feel of the best parts of this event. But to really enjoy it, you gotta go! Our next big chance to get together will be in January, at the QC Rod And Custom Auto Show at the Bend EXPO in East Moline.

If you took part in Sunday's Hangover Cruise, be sure to check for your car's photo in front of the Rock n' Roll Mansion!
