Inside Quad Cities Newest Brunch Spot Opening TODAY
For the past few months, I've been driving by a building being remodeled in downtown Davenport every day on my way to work. The color of the outside changed. Then a sign popped up that read "TOASTED." Once I found out this new establishment was going to be a new breakfast place, I knew I was going to have to find out more.
Toasted is a project that's been two years in the making. Their goal? Combine all five senses to bring an ultimate breakfast and brunch dining experience.
"I want to ensure that the food and the atmosphere are the best they can be," owner Bill Sheeder told us.
Walking into Toasted will blow your mind. From the outside, you don't expect a space the size of what you walk into. A giant dining area, after walking through a short welcome space with comfy lounge chairs.
The giant windows to the left slide open to bring an indoor-outdoor patio feel.
Once inside, you'll notice they've got a fully stocked bar, and for their opening weekend (9/10-9/12) they're offering a couple deals for breakfasty alcoholic drinks.
Also featured for this weekend is the 'Cinnamon Roast Crunch,' a cocktail with Jameson Cold Brew, Absolut Vanilla Vodka and RumChata. It tastes like an alcoholic iced coffee.
I ordered the Carnitas Benny, which was essentially an opened face carnitas sandwich on an English Muffin, topped with eggs benedict and a hollandaise sauce.
To say my mouth was watering when I saw this is understated. Then, I saw what Hairball ordered: the Chicken and Waffles Benny.
Now, keep in mind that Toasted is owned by the same group as Cookies & Dreams, so naturally, these are the some of the best waffles you're probably going have, because they know what they're doing when it comes to sugar.
Toasted will be open Wednesday-Sunday from 7am-2pm. I can't recommend stopping for brunch enough.
If you're looking for a new place of employment, they're hiring.
