The Iowa Deparment of Natural Resources are seeking help from the general public after they received calls about an illegally dumped deer carcass.

Officers arrived near 2191 340th St. near Oxford, Iowa after reports of a headless buck that had been dumped in the creek under a small bridge.

The deer's head was removed, in pattern with someone who was only interested in the trophy of the deer's head and antlers, which is called "trophy taking," and is illegal, and a form of poaching.

Johnson County Sheriff's Office shared the photo of the deer and shared how to report information about this incident or any other poaching incident.

If anyone has any information about this incident please call Conservation Officer Erika Billerbeck at (319) 330-9710 or email erika.billerbeck@dnr.iowa.gov. Callers may also provide information through Iowa’s Turn In Poacher program at 1-800-532-2020. Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible for TIP (Turn In Poachers) reward money.

Poaching isn't just wrong, but it ruins hunting for everyone. Don't be a bitch and poach animals, and be sure to turn in anyone who is.
