I've been working in this building since I got hired part-time in 1996 for the midnight to 6 a.m. Saturday night shift on 97X.  The place has pretty much looked the same since then.

That is, until a few months ago when The Rock & Roll Mansion got a much-needed facelift! The stacked stone from Frymoyer Stone Fabrication & Supply is pretty impressive. It changes the entire look for both spaces.

Frymoyer, which is celebrating one year in business but decades of family experience in the industry, prides itself on having high-quality stone and building materials. Some is well beyond what you'd find in a big box store or other local retailers.

Here are four more interesting products:

1) Borea sandstone has a distinct coloration and grain. It's great for flooring, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds and outdoor countertops—and Frymoyer is the only retailer of this product in the Quad Cities area.

2) Mossy rock ... that comes with plenty of moss. It needs to be placed in damp, shady areas, but it's a great landscaping accent. It even can be used in koi ponds or swimming areas!

3) Hive tiles. These are practically works of art. Each panel includes concave and convex hexagon pieces made from engineered marble or travertine. They are available in barnwood, chiseled cream, driftwood and etched cream finishes and can be used indoors or outside.

4) Reclaimed wood panels. Vintage boatwood is hand selected and crafted into panels, which would make a stunning accent wall.

You've probably seen their work in other public places, too. According to The Quad-City Times, they worked on "the veterans memorial at Jumer’s Hotel & Casino in Rock Island and a part of the entry sign for the city of Walcott."

You're welcome to stop by their showroom at 205 S. 35th St., Bettendorf (just off State Street), too. You'll probably discover some great, unique products I forgot to list here!
