A Phoenix area family is laying down the law on their 14-year-old son after he took his parent's Range Rover for a ride while they were on vacation in Las Vegas celebrating their anniversary.1

"I just wanted to drive but I don’t have a license so I just took it," said 14-year-old Angel Martinez. "I can wash the car, and I was like I don’t have anything to dry it, so I’m gonna take it for one spin until it dries."

Makes sense to me.

Angel was speeding around the family's neighborhood, and his parents had no idea, until they got a phone call from the Phoenix Police Department.

His parents got home, and decided that they were tired of Angel getting into legal trouble, so it was time to clean up his act, by cleaning up his room.

"We got back to the house. Today, his room is 100% empty, and we’re giving all his stuff away," said Ramon Martinez, Angel's father.

For hours, they had him sit on his bed in the front yard, holding a sign that said "Sorry I stole my parent's car and was speeding."

Angels clothes, bedroom set, and TV all were given away for free. His dad said Angel's stuff went as fast as the Range Rover.

Angel will be sleeping on either the floor of his room, or his couch.

"It’s kind of weird, but I think it’s a fair punishment," said Angel.
