
Two Men Brutally Attacked With Baseball Bat, East Moline Teen Faces Felony Charges
A violent confrontation at a local park has resulted in serious injuries to two people and multiple felony charges for an East Moline man.
Victims Suffer Significant Head Injuries Following Late-Night Altercation
According to court records, officers were called to an emergency room in Bettendorf after two victims arrived with severe injuries. Medical staff and investigators documented bruising, lacerations, contusions, and significant trauma to the victims' heads and eyes. Both individuals reportedly complained of memory loss, raising concerns about the extent of their injuries.
The victims told police they had been involved in a large fight at McManus Park. Investigators believe the injuries were caused by repeated blows from a blunt object.
Video Allegedly Shows Metal Bat Used During Large Group Fight
Court documents state the incident happened around 11:34 p.m. on May 28. During the investigation, officers interviewed witnesses and reviewed cellphone video captured during the altercation. According to the affidavit, the footage showed 19-year-old Amante Higgins-Bey allegedly swinging a metal bat and striking both victims in the head multiple times.
The video also reportedly showed a large group of approximately 15 to 20 people engaged in what authorities described as a violent brawl. The size of the gathering and the level of violence involved have raised concerns about the dangerous circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators say Higgins-Bey later admitted he was present during the disturbance.
He was taken into custody and is now facing four felony charges, including two counts of willful injury, as well as charges of rioting and going armed with intent.
The investigation remains ongoing.
