The Time Share Couple

We've been talking about the couple arrested for fraud upon landing in Mexico, and while they maintain innocence, it's not looking like they are.

The reason they were arrested was part of a fraud investigation in which Palace Resorts claims the couple defrauded the company. It came out the first day that the couple had American Express cancel charges and refund them on a chunk of change they disputed after a trip.

It turns out it goes much deeper than that.

Internet sleuths (and Michaels) were able to find some comments from the wife, Christy Akeo, that shed some light on more of the story.

Here's one of her explaining how to lie and tell your credit card company to not have to pay monthly payments to the resort.

Then, someone found Facebook posts from her listing her timeshare for sale, which is very much against the contracts, agreements, and rules of the resort.

The Palace Company has released a statement outlining their side of the story, explaining that in the term of their membership of the timeshare, "the couple made a total of 1,570 bookings, and carried out 18 membership upgrades, representing a cumulative investment of $1,409,850."

They said that the case was now being handled by INTERPOL, and that the original warrant for their arrest was issued on August 8th, 2023.

Today in Rock History

March 28th, 1996 - Phil Collins announced that he was leaving Genesis to focus on his solo career.

It's understandable when you see how much of an absolute blast he had back in 1990 singing Easy Lover. It's surprising

Michaels' Plans For Your Weekend

Michaels has already given you your plans for the weekend.

It's a crazy ass documentary about the hunt for Forrest Fenn's treasure that he hid in 2010, with a 24-line poem.

He hid a box of gold somewhere in the Rockies.

Rich Bassford Playing Pool With UFC Guys

Rich Bassford is a big pool guy, and he just got to play a round with Tito Ortiz, the UFC fighter.

Listener Pat sent some photos of his dinner at Tito's Cantina in Cape Coral, and Tito was even in the house that night. He served plates to tables and talked with everyone.

Garage Sale Van Gogh

A painting bought at a garage sale was thought to be a Van Gogh, and while there's a bunch of supporting pieces of info that come with it, unfortunately the company that was verifying it decided it's inaunthentic.

Zach's Send Off

Zach Maxwell was a 15-year-old who loved cool cars, and recently passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. When he was in hospice, over 600 cars from around the region did a drive-by show for him.

His memorial service is this Saturday, and the local car community is looking to have a similar send-off, if not bigger.

Plumber Re-Clogs Pipe After Restaurant Refuses To Pay

A plumber was called out to unclog a pipe, and they did, but then when the drain was clogged again a week later, they got called back out.

Then, when the second bill came up, the restaurant refused to pay. So, the plumber went back out to the job, and put a balloon in the pipe and inflated it to restore the clog.
