Disneyland has officially put the kibosh on some of the most beloved guest accessories: large reusable water bottles, like Stanley cups, and yes, phones too. Why? Because guests are accidentally turning the Happiest Place on Earth into the Most Shutdown Place on Earth.

Ride Shutdowns Blame Guests, Not Machines

Disney engineers recently reported a growing problem: more ride interruptions are caused by guest behavior than ever before. Dropped phones, tumbling water bottles, flying mouse ears, and even backpacks have been shutting down rides. In 2025, about 13 percent of ride shutdowns were due to passengers, up from the historical 10 percent average.

The Stanley Ban on Incredicoaster

Over at Incredicoaster, large bottles are now prohibited during rides. Guests must either stash their bottle safely in a bag or leave it on a designated shelf near the loading area before boarding. Disney says heavy bottles at high speeds could become dangerous projectiles and cause ride stoppages.

Support From the Crowd

While some guests grumble about the new rules, many fans online support them — especially those who’ve narrowly avoided rogue phones or expensive gadgets flying past them on a coaster.

Disneyland’s new rules are all about safety and keeping the rides running smoothly. Next time you hit the park’s big thrills, remember to stow your phone and water bottle before you go.
