Davenport Organ Donor Receives Honor Walk

The greatest gift a person can give is their life for the benefit of others. In a video shared by Genesis Health Systems, the hospital staff lines the hallways to honor a Davenport man and registered organ donor who suffered a fatal heart attack. The Honor Walk is to recognize him for being a registered organ donor, and is the final goodbye for the family and hospital staff.

"Don Ruiz, 58, of Davenport, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Oct. 16. He had registered as an organ donor. On Oct. 21, Genesis staff lined the hallways to honor Don's decision and his family said "goodbye." Honor Walks recognize donors to the Iowa Donor Network. This was the first Honor Walk at Genesis," reads Genesis Health System's video.
