The eyes of the entire continent are officially on Bettendorf this week. If you haven't headed over to the TBK Bank Sports Complex yet, you are missing out on the biggest sporting spectacle in North America right now.

A Global Stage in Our Backyard

Bettendorf isn’t just hosting a local tournament; it's the continental hub for the North American and Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) Senior Men’s Championship. National teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Greenland have descended upon the Quad Cities to battle for a high-stakes prize: a spot in the 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship in Germany.

But wait... it gets even bigger. Running alongside this international showdown is the USA Team Handball U.S. Open Club Championships (May 14–17).
Organizers say this is a massive win for the region. “For an entire week, Bettendorf will become the center of North American handball,” says Michael King, CEO of USA Team Handball.

Why You Should Care

If you’ve never seen team handball, think of it as a lightning-fast hybrid of soccer, basketball, and water polo (minus the pool). It’s an Olympic-level sport that is absolutely blowing up ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The impact on the Quad Cities is massive:

  • Economic Boom: Athletes, coaches, and fans are packing our hotels and dining at our local restaurants.
  • Global Recognition: We are proving that the QC can handle elite, international-level competition.
  • Non-Stop Action: Matches run through Saturday, May 16, culminating in the high-stakes medal rounds!

Get down to the TBK Bank Sports Complex and witness history in the making.
