If you love bagels, breakfast sandwiches, or discovering local food gems before everyone else does, this one’s for you. A popular bagel food truck that many Quad Cities-area residents already know and love has officially taken the next big step.

The Bagel Shop, which built a loyal following on wheels, has now opened its very first brick-and-mortar location in downtown Muscatine, Iowa.

From Food Truck Favorite to Downtown Storefront

The Bagel Shop is now open at 413 East 2nd Street, Muscatine, IA, giving fans a permanent place to grab their favorite hand-rolled bagels. The business is owned by Gavin Meerdink and Leslie Rada, who started the concept after bonding over their shared love of breakfast foods.

Dedicated bagel shops are rare in rural Midwest communities. That gap inspired them to start with a food truck, where their freshly made bagels quickly caught on. As demand grew, so did the dream of a storefront. That dream became reality when the downtown location officially opened in January.

What’s on the Menu? A Lot More Than Just Bagels

The Bagel Shop offers a rotating lineup of bagels that keeps customers coming back. Flavors include plain, everything, blueberry, asiago, jalapeño cheddar, and cinnamon crunch.

Their house-made cream cheeses are just as popular, with options like plain, Oreo, veggie, strawberry, scallion, jalapeño cheddar, and Grillo’s dill pickle.

The shop’s philosophy is simple and proudly stated:

“Hand-rolled bagels made with love. Creating tasteful sandwiches to brighten up your morning/afternoon!” – The Bagel Shop

They also emphasize quality in every detail:

“Fresh meats and cheeses sliced every day – always made to order” – The Bagel Shop

Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice Is Now on the Menu Too

Another recent addition? Freshly squeezed orange juice.

“OJ freshly squeezed today! 100% oranges with zero additives or fillers” – The Bagel Shop (Facebook)

The Bagel Shop is open Wednesday through Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. You can find more details on their website at thebagelshopiowa.com, along with updates about both the storefront and food truck on Facebook.
