Temporary Closure Alert: Arsenal Bridge to Close for Maintenance

Change Your Travel

Drivers and pedestrians in the Quad Cities should prepare for temporary traffic changes as the Rock Island Arsenal’s Government Bridge—also known as the Arsenal Bridge—will be closed for cleaning and maintenance on Thursday, June 19, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Reason For Closure

During this 12-hour window, the bridge will be completely closed to all traffic, including vehicles and pedestrians. The closure is necessary for crews to safely clean the underside of the bridge and the rail deck. If weather delays the work, Saturday, June 21 has been set as a backup date.

Impacts

In addition, the Moline Bridge will experience intermittent single-lane closures on Friday, June 20, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers and signs will be in place to direct drivers during these times, but travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

This maintenance follows the recent completion of the roundabout construction on the Davenport side of the Arsenal Bridge. That project is now finished, and the new roundabout is open to traffic.

Plan Your Route

Whether you commute daily across the bridge or are just passing through, it's important to stay alert to these temporary changes and allow extra travel time. Keep an eye on local traffic updates and follow posted signage to navigate the closures safely.
