A company called Joi AI says it’s hiring 10 people to become what it calls “masturbation consultants.” The pay? About $2,000 a month. The assignment? Testing AI-guided voice sessions and reporting back on stress levels, mood, sleep quality, and overall experience.

So yes. In 2026, there are officially people updating their résumés with “professional feedback provider for AI intimacy sessions.”

The company says participants would spend four weeks testing a feature called “Daily Guided Masturbation,” where an AI voice walks users through mood-based sessions. Afterwards, testers fill out questionnaires explaining how immersive the experience felt and whether the AI voice matched the selected mood.

The Job Description Sounds Like It Was Written During a Dare

According to the listing, the ideal candidate should be “articulate, observant, and impossible to blush.” The company also says applicants should be able to describe sensations “better than a sommelier describes wine.” Imagine explaining that career path to your parents over Thanksgiving dinner.

AI Relationships Are Becoming Weirdly Common

Behind all the jokes, there’s actually a bigger trend happening here.

Joi AI is part of a growing world of AI companionship apps, alongside platforms like Character.AI and Replika. These services let users chat with AI-generated companions designed to feel emotionally responsive and personal.

And apparently, a lot of people are using them.

The company says it has more than one million monthly active users worldwide. Researchers have also found growing numbers of young adults using AI romantic companions, sometimes without their real-life partners even knowing about it.

Which is probably not a sentence anyone expected to read ten years ago when we were all just asking Siri what the weather was.

The company admits the hiring campaign was partially designed to get attention online, but says the positions themselves are completely real. So if you’ve ever wanted a remote job that absolutely cannot be explained quickly at family gatherings… congratulations. Your moment has arrived.
