In its description, Soma cites her favorite drummers as John Bonham, Chris Coleman and Benny Greb. “As a drummer, I enjoy being groove, tones and try to support vocalists carefully. My dream is to be the best drummer in the world.”
She explains that her first experiences with drums took place when she was only 2 years old, and by age 4 she started “started performing at concerts.” Soma also plays keyboards and is able to perform as a vocalist a well.
"Hit Like A Girl" is an annual global drumming contest for female percussionists. “Its purpose is to spotlight female drummers/percussionists and encourage drumming and lifelong musicianship for girls and women, regardless of age or playing level.” Participants are evaluated on performance (60 percent), presentation, (30 percent) and story (10 percent). We certainly think Soma checks all of those boxes!
