6 and 3 Year Olds Crash After Stealing Parents Car To Go Buy Toy Car
Out on the Malaysian island of Langkawi, a light night joyride ended in a crash, with two taken into police custody.
Langkawi's police chief, Shariman Ashari, said other drivers took notice of a silver Toyota Vios and began following it after believing the swerving vehicle nearly caused a few accidents, looking as if someone was under the influence and behind the wheel.
A mile and a half from where the journey began, the car struck a lamppost, and the two drivers were identified.
“The driver was a minor aged six, who was driving a passenger – his brother, aged three. The crash occurred when the car, traveling from Ulu Melaka towards Kampung Nyior Chabang, lost control and crashed into a lamppost near Kampung Titi Chanwang,” Shariman said.
A 95-second clip has gone viral on Facebook of the boys sitting in the driver's seat, wearing casual shirts and red pants.
"Mama is at home and we are going to the store,” the elder boy says in Malay. “We want to buy a black car,” the younger one adds, talking about a toy car from the store.
Police say the older of the two boys had a minor cut on his chin from the crash, while the younger brother was not injured. Police haven't named the children, but they were returned to their parents, where they're likely grounded for the rest of their lives.
