5 Reasons You Should See ‘Mystify: Michael Hutchence’
I just got home from the one-night theatre showing of the long-awaited documentary featuring Michael Hutchence from the band INXS, and I sit here confused as to how much of his career and life I never knew. Surprises around every corner as his longtime friend Richard Lowenstein tells the story of a great ride with a tragic end.
But I won't fill you with spoilers, just the 5 reasons I will see it again when I can find it on a streaming service.
1) There was a time when INXS ruled, and I mean, RULED the airwaves. Every format had a hit INXS record, every song a video in heavy rotation. 'Mystify' will fondly take you back to that moment in time.
2) Hutchence was a hit with the ladies. And dang, the celebrity relationships just kept getting more famous.
3) The Oasis award presentation is the best 15 seconds of Awards Show in existence.
4) The event that changed the direction of his life that you never knew about.
5) It will make you love your loved ones more than you ever thought possible. And you'll want to hug your kids a little tighter.
I was aware that this film had made the rounds on the international awards and festival circuit, but my wife and I stumbled into the one night theatre showing Tuesday night. I'm so glad we did--and so will you.
