The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, a group belonging to the Royal Canadian Air Force similar to the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds, set out to do a series of flyover tributes for healthcare workers. They set out May 2nd to do the tributes all over the country, but yesterday tragedy struck when one of the planes crashed.

Seconds after two of the planes took off, one suddenly started gaining altitude before it flipped over, spun, and started diving toward the ground. Two people ejected from the craft.

One of the two ejected from the plane was killed in the incident, the other injured, according to the Royal Canadian Air Force.




 

The deceased was identified as Capt. Jennifer Casey, the team's public affairs officer. Casey joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2014. She had been a broadcast radio anchor, reporter, and producer prior to her time in the service. She will be missed.
