The City of Davenport is getting ready to bring back two-way traffic on part of 4th Street, starting with the stretch between Harrison Street and East River Drive.

Expect Lane Changes Over the Next Two Weeks

Over the next couple of weeks, drivers should keep an eye out for changing traffic patterns between Harrison Street and East River Drive.

Crews will be working on pavement markings, putting up new signs, and updating traffic signals to get everything ready for the switch. The good news for shoppers and anyone stopping along the way is that businesses in the area will remain accessible during construction.

Once the work is finished, drivers will be able to travel in both directions on 4th Street between Harrison Street and East River Drive.

More Changes Are Coming to 4th Street

The two-way traffic change won't happen along the entire stretch of 4th Street all at once.

The section between Marquette Street and Harrison Street will switch to two-way traffic later, after resurfacing work in that area is complete.

For now, drivers should also expect lane reductions between Harrison Street and Fillmore Street as crews continue resurfacing the north side of the road.

Give Yourself a Little Extra Time

With construction still underway, drivers should be prepared for lane changes and possible delays while crews finish up the work.

The City says more updates are expected in the coming weeks as the project moves forward.

So, if 4th Street is part of your usual route around Davenport, keep your eyes open, follow the signs, and give yourself a little extra time to get where you're going.
