Donating a kidney to a family member or friend is great, but donating to a random person is on a whole other level of nice.

Char Rostomily in northern California got tested to see if she could donate to her adult daughter, Nikki. Turns out that they weren't a match. Luckily, Nikki ended up getting a kidney from someone else.

Later on, Char was still inspired to donate and signed up to give one of her kidneys to someone totally random. She didn't even get their name.

On the day of the surgery back in April, her grandchildren were telling their friends from school about it. As it turned out their friends' grandfather and Char's neighbor was the recipient.

She says she only donated as a way of giving back after her daughter got a kidney. Now the two families feel like they're bonded for life.
