
Woman Arrested in Bank Robbery Attempted to Getaway on Local Bus
A woman was arrested on Wednesday after she robbed a bank. She was caught because of her chosen mode of transportation.
Officers in Sonoma, California responded to a robbery alarm at a Union Bank branch around 1pm.
The suspect was described as a black female adult, with a blue Golden State Warriors shirt and black pants. She allegedly walked into the bank and up to a bank teller, and stated "I’m robbing the bank."
According to the report, the teller put an unknown amount of money in a bag and gave it to the woman, who then immediately walked out of the bank. No weapon was ever displayed or seen by anyone in the bank.
Witnesses said they watched as the woman board a Sonoma County Transit bus, which a deputy located and followed until it came to a stop.
Deputies boarded the bus and detained a woman who was carrying a bank bag containing the money, police said.
Multiple witnesses confirmed that the suspect was the woman detained, who later was identified as Porschia Jhonette Napalan, 43, of San Francisco.
Napalan was arrested and charged with robbery.
