Wisconsin Man Charged With DUI After Trying to Be First Ice Fisher On Lake
A Wisconsin man and ice fisherman tried to be the first on the lake to secure his spot for the season, but the only problem he faced was that the lake wasn't frozen yet.
According to reports from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, a man really wanted to get his fishing shack onto the "ice" but ended up just getting an Operating While Intoxicating charge. In fact, officials report that this was the guy's third OWI incident of the night.
The driver was reportedly uninjured and officials immediately determined that alcohol was a factor in the incident.
While it did get below freezing in Barron County a couple of nights in a row, there's no ice yet, so the lake definitely isn't ready to take any vehicles right now.
Authorities said even though there's been some frost this week, you should not try and bring your shack onto the ice.
"THE.ICE.IS.NOT.READY.YET." the Barron County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook.
Barron County is about three and a half hours northwest of Green Bay.
