This morning, the members of Wicked Liz & The Bellyswirls stopped by the studio to play a couple of tunes and talk about the upcoming memorial jam for Greg Hipskind, their late drummer, who passed away just a few weeks ago.

Wicked Liz & The Bellyswirls were inducted into the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in September 2025, which the band credits to Greg.

Greg was the founder of the QC Rock Academy, which has grown to a place where kids get together and not only learn how to play an instrument, but how to work together as a team, a band, all to reach the dreams they aspire to.

Saturday, Feburary 14th is the Greg Hipskind Memorial Jam at the Rust Belt.

The night will feature multiple bands playing sets, including the band Greg drummed for - Wicked Liz & The Bellyswirls - as well as a massive multi-instrument finale to end the night.

In addition to the performances, a silent auction of instruments and other items will be happening, with all proceeds going to Greg's wife, Jenny, and their daughters.

There's a T-Shirt fundraiser going on from QC Custom Tees, who are selling a ton of QC Rock Academy themed T-Shirts and Sweatshirts, with proceeds going to Greg's family.

You can also donate straight to the family's GoFundMe as well.

All of the current QC Rock Academy bands will be on the stage throughout the night, as well as some alumn

The lineup includes:

Facecarver, Achromatic of Time, Cheeseburger Murder Cult, Wicked Alloy, Pick Your Poison, Goliathan, Impossible Wonder, Mercury’s Crown, 7 Ark, Running in Circles, Made Ya Look, Company Dimes, Nonetheless, Immortal Salience, & BTDT

It's a free event, but bring a lawn chair!
