With the anniversary of the "Covid Shutdown" coming up, I'd love to hear where everyone was when they realized things were going to be different. Michaels and I were on the air the morning Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that all 'non-essential' businesses would be closing at noon on March 17th last year (And if I never hear the phrase 'non-essential' again it will be too soon!)

After the show, my wife and I went to a newly-opened bar in Davenport called The Ridge for a quick St. Patrick's Day celebration. The bartender welcomed us with a warning--"We have to be closed and locked by noon." We had a couple of what would be our last inside beers for awhile, and then went home to celebrate the day.

I can remember the next day (The rest of St .Patty's day was a little blurry!) driving home from work, and the streets were deserted. It was like that movie "The Omega Man' where stuff seemed stopped in its' tracks. And the signs. So many signs on restaurants, bars, and other businesses explaining how they were now closed, but would have more information soon. So many small businesses turned completely upside down. And the toilet paper? The crazy buying of T.P.

A year later, some are still closed (Especially in Illinois) and some may never reopen. Others did what they could to survive the roller coaster. The outlook is looking better for all of us socializing soon, and I can't wait to get out and see folks again.

In the meantime, I'd love to hear where you were when things changed, and how they became immediately different for you.
