The Wausau Deputy Police Chief, alongside Mayor Robert Mielke, to address the details of the ordinance that is in place.

He starts off addressing the ordinance 9.08.020 that states "No person shall throw or shoot any object, arrow, stone, snowball or other missile or projectile, by hand or by any other means, at any other person or at, in or into any building, street, sidewalk, alley, highway, park, playground or other public place within the city."

Barstool Sports claimed that the currently presiding Mayor Mielke helped put the ordinance in place, but it's actually been in place since 1962.

Deputy Chief Matt Barnes explains that the ordinance has only been used to cite a person ten times in the last 15 years, and only two occasions has it been used to cite someone throwing snowballs. Those two citations were for individuals throwing snowballs at moving vehicles.

Barnes finishes his video saying "To individuals in our community, a fun snowball fight is a fun snowball fight, and that's not something we enforce this ordinance with. On the other hand, throwing snowballs at those who may not want it-" and pelted the Mayor in the back of the head with a snowball.
