
WATCH: Florida Man Crashes Stolen Police Car, Steals Second Police Car
A man was arrested in Volusia County following a multi-county chase that ended in two stolen police cars.
Officials say it all started when Cocoa police were called to respond to a suspicious person on Interstate 95. During that investigation, officers said Xavier Javern Cummings got into a patrol car and took off.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said officers performed a PIT maneuver, sending the squad car into a wooded area. When officers tried to get Cummings out of the car, but they said he hopped into another squad car that was running and unlocked, and fled.

It's like watching someone play Grand Theft Auto.
"The suspect and the vehicle were in the wooded area just off the highway. As officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he fled, jumped into another Cocoa patrol vehicle and continued north," a statement from the Cocoa police department said.
Cummings drove the second car along I-95, with multiple police agencies in tow.
To bring the chase to an end, officers deployed stop sticks.
Cummings charges include:
- Armed Burglary of a Conveyance
- Escape
- Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
- Two counts of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle
- Driving While License is Suspended
