The Princeton Fire Department is hosting a benefit for Rory Miletich, the son of Silvis Police Department's Sergeant Joseph Miletich.

Rory has a very rare seizure disorder known as Electrical Status Epilepticus in Sleep (ESES) has just gotten home from several weeks in the hospital. After significant regression, he will have to have a left hemispherectomy, to give him any chance to have a seizure-free life.

A Hemispherectomy is a radical process of disconnecting half of the brain. In Rory's case, this is the left side.

Surgery is scheduled for mid-April. Once the operation is complete, Rory will have to stay in a pediatric rehabilitation unit for 6-8 weeks so that he can re-learn to walk and talk through some intensive therapy.

When he is able to return home, the home will have to be modified and new adaptive equipment will be added to assist him in his recovery to become as independent as possible for him to enjoy everything a kid wants to do.

The benefit for Rory Miletich will be held on Saturday, May 20th from 12-6pm at the Princeton Fire Department.
