The National Council on Aging says every 11 seconds an older adult is treated for a fall, and every 19 minutes, one dies from a fall.

A University of Iowa professor is looking to change those statistics through studying the effects of marijuana on "older adults."

Thorsten Rudroff says he wants to see what the use of THC has in store for the cognitive skills of people between 50-80 years old. He wants to see if the use of the drug will liken or lessen the chances of falls, even though he speaks about the psychoactive ingredients of marijuana.

The study will last two years, and will focus almost completely on motor function in users. Those who take part in the study will get $100.
