Florida Man Arrested Had Sea Turtle Eggs And Drugs In His Car
Deputies in Flagler County in Florida got an arrest on Sunday that revealed some pretty weird personal effects in the guy's van.
Police said they found a van parked outside of a home along North Ocean Shore Boulevard in Beverly Beach. Deputies said Winters had been arrested for aggravated battery and was under a no-contact order for the person who lived in the house.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office release, the deputy woke Winters up and asked him to get out of the van, and that's when he noticed some white and tan orb looking things on the floorboard between his feet.
They looked like turtle eggs, the deputy called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and started putting them in an evidence bag, when he noticed a marijuana bowl on the ground next to the van. The deputy asked if he had any drugs on him, Winter responded with "Not that I'm aware of."
He did, however, let the deputy search the van.
The deputy searched the van and found methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, an alprazolam pill, a handmade metal pipe, and another marijuana bowl just like the one outside.
Winters told an wildlife officer that the eggs came from two nests that had washed away, but it didn't seem like the eggs were still viable.
Police charged him with possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, alprazolam, marijuana (20 grams or less), drug paraphernalia, and violating a no-contact order.
He's also facing a misdemeanor from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation and felony charges relating to possessing and disturbing protected sea turtle eggs.
