Tug of War Across the Mississippi River
The Mississippi River has been host to an annual tug of war competition since 1987, when representatives from Iowa & Illinois came together to settle the question once and for all as to which state could drag the other into the old man river. LeClaire, Iowa and Port Byron, Illinois will once again be the site of intense competition for bragging rights.
The party goes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week!
Logistics
The logistics in setting up such an event can be daunting, but for Tugfest organizers, it’s a way to bring community together. For some participants, it’s their chance to throw shade at their friends from another state all year.
Preparation
Although Tugfest only happens once a year, planning for it begins as soon as that year’s competition is over. Preparing for a tug-of-war event requires teamwork, training and strong commitment. If you are not a team player or you do not have a strong commitment to winning, your chances of success will be diminished. Before beginning any preparation it is important to define goals and set realistic expectations for yourself and your team.
Event Highlights
Live music from Dirt Road Rockers, TOMB, The Brat Pack, North of 40, Project X, Ky & Ty and The Other Guy and more!
Great food, beer wagons, carnival rides, fireworks, arm wrestling, kids games, Bingo and more. You don't want to miss this super fun annual tradition.
