Trump’s First Medal of Honor Recipient is a Vietnam Veteran and It’s About Time
Vietnam servicemen and women were asked to do the impossible. They paid a high price at the time, and are fighting still today.
The same Uncle that sent them to war, and poisoned them while they were there, is now systematically ignoring some of it's muddiest warriors. It's not too late to help that generation.
I hope recognition of Rose will shine more light into the darkest corners of of this war in time to help it's more troubled heroes.
Army Captain Gary Michael Rose received the Congressional Medal of Honor yesterday for his heroism in a secret mission as a combat medic. Back in 1970, he was sent to Laos on a mission to draw hundreds of Vietnamese soldiers from CIA-controlled airfields.
“My job was to focus on the individuals that were hurt,” Rose said. “You don't concern yourself about getting hurt or killed.”
Captain Rose is credited with saving 60 lives over the course of four days of intense combat.
