Today In Sports History: Dennis Rodman Kicks Cameraman In The Junk
On January 17, 1997:
The NBA issued Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman for kicking cameraman Eugene Amos in the groin during a game at Minnesota. After a missed free throw, Rodman went for the rebound and tripped over some camera equipment that was sitting just over the end line. Upset about the fall, Rodman got up and kicked Amos right in the junk.
Rodman would go on to agree to a $200,000 settlement with the cameraman, and if you factor in the 11-game suspension without pay, the incident cost Rodman over $1 million.
Check out the video and hear the call from the announcers, who even said something along the lines of "You can almost see the dollars floating around."
