We're 4 days into the new year.  Only several hours into my diet resolution.  This squirrel is making me want to fall off the wagon already.

It's a New Year..it's a New Me has turned into...this can wait until Monday.  No one in their right mind cranks up the New Year's resolutions on day one, right? Now, I've never been a big "let's go to the bar on New Years Eve" kind of guy.  My grandpa always called it "amateur night" so we always found a house party to hit where we could booze into all hours of the night and not have to drive home.

See?  I'm not as dumb as I look.

Then once the family life came into play we didn't even do legit New Years Eve celebrations any more.   We partied with the kids until midnight and went directly to sleep.

Soon after that a few of my family members started doing New Year's Day gatherings.  We joined them and loved the small crowds and ability to get a drink without wading through throngs of college kids.

Day drinking is so much better than night drinking.  It's no surprise that this tradition has turned into one of my favorite days of the year.

So...I'm not starting my diet on January 1st because I'll be drinking.  I can't do it January 2nd because I'll be hungover and will need grease. No way I'll start it January 3rd...because it's the Lord's day.  So, Monday, January 4th begins my fitness journey.
