The New I-74 Bridge Has a Giant Crane Onsite to Help Place the Arches
We're still a few months away from seeing the largest sections of the arches go up on the new I-74 bridge, but the gigantic crane needed to do so is already sitting on the river.
QC Drone shot the video above and you can see just how big this crane is as it sits next to the current bridge. The Manitowoc MLC650 stands over 300-feet-tall with just the main boom and can be configured to reach even higher.
Crews have been working in the new year to prep for the arches to go up and this giant piece of machinery will be the muscle. You can see the progress that's been made so far for the bases and the supports that will hold the arches as they set in.
