The Mexican Pizza Is Coming Back, For Real This Time
If you've been following the hot button issue surrounding Taco Bell and their Mexican Pizza, you know that it was taken away from us, then teased to come back, then came back - but only for a few weeks.
Even if we didn't get it all the time, we were all still disappointed when the pizza disappeared from the menu.
The Mexican Pizza is a near-perfect delicacy, unlike any other Mexican restaurant's offerings. It's a tortilla shell, beans and ground beef, tortilla shell, sauce, cheese, and tomatoes - in that order.
Well, after weeks of pulling up to the Bell only to be met with the sticker that said "SOLD OUT," they've finally brought us news of the good variety.
It's like they brought it back, and they thought "Ehhhhh, people won't really want to go get this crap," but boy did we overwhelm them.
I mean, come on. It's not a McRib, it's a Mexican Pizza. You have all the ingredients in there, just make the damn thing!
So, here's the deal on Mexican Pizza making an official return to the menu, full-time.
Fortune put a call in, to the CEO of Taco Bell himself, Mark King, who explained what was going on.
"It's going to be relaunched mid-September and it's going to be a permanent item," King told the magazine. "I had more feedback — hate mail! — over the removal of Mexican pizza than any other time."
He said that the Mexican Pizza's temporary return brought sales of the item seven times higher than before it was removed.
It's victory, boys. Let's eat!
