The Jobs That Serial Killers Are Most Likely to Work
A criminologist has looked at the patterns of serial killers from the past 50 years and he thinks that he has found the jobs that attract the murderers the most.
Michael Arntfield published his book Murder in Plain English last year. In it he says that killers are likely attracted to certain jobs that will satisfy their mental disorders. Some even take the jobs for more practical reasons.
“[It’s a] combination of mobility, power (whether structural or actual), and the fact many jobs also simultaneously satisfy the underlying paraphilias, or sexual preoccupations, that also fuel killers' crimes,” Arntfield said to IFLScience.
Here are ten of the jobs that will attract a serial killer the most:
- Aircraft machinist
- Shoemaker
- Automobile upholsterer.
- Forestry worker
- Truck driver
- Warehouse manager
- General laborer
- Hotel porter
- Gas pump attendant
- Police
- Security official
- Military personnel
- Religious official
