Teen Losing Sight Gets to See The World Thanks to Strangers
15-year-old Josh Bangert from Chicago was recently diagnosed with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy which means he's going blind.
The teen first noticed that the vision in his left eye was getting blurry and he thought glasses would fix it. After getting checked out, he got the bad news. Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done, no surgery or medication can fix the problem.
Josh was obviously devastated that his vision could be gone before the year ends, but he's coming to terms with it. Now he's on a mission to see as much as he can.
His bucket list includes all sorts of stuff he wants to see like Niagara Falls and an NBA game. Hundreds of strangers are going to make it a reality for him.
The "Help Josh See His Bucket List" campaign on GoFundMe has raised over $37,000 in donations. Since time is a factor, Josh has already started on the list.
Last week he went to a Chicago Bulls game and sat in the front row, he water skied for the first time, and he also flew to California to see the mountains and ocean.
Any leftover money will go towards medical expenses and research.
