Surfer Suffers Broken Back After Giant Wipeout

Andrew Cotton was surfing off the coast of Nazaré, Portugal when he went up against a giant, 50-foot wave and lost.

The 36-year-old adrenaline junkie ended up breaking his L2 vertebra and says he's feeling a little sore. “I pulled up over a lump. I knew it wasn’t going to barrel or that I wasn’t going to outrun it, so I just hit the eject button and thought, [eff], I gotta get out of this,” he told Magicseaweed.
