Did you know that Elementary schools in Muscatine school district have about $100 per year budgeted for their music programs? Not per classroom, the entire music program at each school has to fit their budget within $100.

There's an annual event going on this weekend. Each year they choose a different school district to help out, raising money for elementary music education programs.

This year, 18 acts (bands, solos, duos) will perform on 3 stages, raising money for the kids in Muscatine schools.

The Local Bands for Music Education Benefit will be held March 11 at the River Music Experience. Money from this year's event will go to Muscatine elementary music education programs for classroom instruments.

Admission is only $5 per person and kids 12 and under are free. Here's the lineup:
