If you're using the word Metallica as your password, you need to stop. Not because the band is about to start suing people for that, although you'd believe me if I said that, wouldn't you?

Britain's National Cyber Security Center has put together a list of 100,000 passwords that are frequently hacked, and they include band names like Metallica, Slipknot, Blink-182, Eminem, and 50 Cent.

The list also includes common fictional characters like Superman, Batman, Tigger, and Pokemon. Plus common names and idiotically simple passwords like "qwerty", "password", and "123456". (Check out the entire list here.)

The NCSC says, quote, "Nobody should protect sensitive data with something that can be guessed, like their first name, local football team or favorite band.

"Using hard-to-guess passwords is a strong first step and we recommend combining three random but memorable words. Be creative and use words memorable to you, so people can't guess your password."
